Online CPD: Annual Review 2018 / 2019

Annual Review 2018/19

Our Annual Update is aimed at accountants and solicitors practicing in Scotland and looking to keep abreast of the latest developments in restructuring and insolvency.

The seminar is appropriate for practitioners with limited or no knowledge of restructuring and insolvency looking for an introduction as well as experienced practitioners requiring a more detailed understanding. Our aim is to better position you to support your clients should they encounter financial challenges. This year’s Annual Update will look at the practical impact of the developments and trends most relevant to lawyers and accountants

This will include:

Millionaire Bankrupts’ and Protracted Litigation
Following the Panorama programme in January 2018 which highlighted celebrity bankrupts who have managed to maintain their lifestyles despite bankruptcy, this session looks at how the well advised successfully exploit the legal system to thwart their creditors.

Property Update
This session will be delivered by a guest speaker from Graham + Sibbald. The update will include trends in residential,
commercial and industrial property (such as availability, pricing, transactions levels, growth, forecasts etc) specific to the local area.

The Insolvency (Scotland) Rules 2018
Due to come into force in April 2019, in this session we will take a detailed look at aspects of the Corporate Insolvency (Scotland) Rules 2018. The new rules are designed to encourage creditor engagement and this session will consider how the changes to decision-making and reporting might impact on engagement. We will also look at how digital communication might impact on how we engage with the creditor community.
